More Ballots Found, Election Report Released
COLUMBIA, S.C. (WOLO) -- One hundred and two votes were found just Wednesday at the Spring Valley West precinct, says Richland County Election Commission Attorney, Steve Hamm. Hamm says he does not believe the ballots were included in the count.
This information was part of Hamm's report on election problems, released at Thursday's board meeting for the Richland County Election Commission.
Hamm says the election started off on the right foot last summer, but then hit and iceberg and no one noticed until Election Day.
Hamm says the problems started with what is known as "Exhibit B."
"This document reflects the beginning of our election problems," says Hamm.
Hamm says that paper originally listed 824 machines needed for Election Day.
But a part-time worker, whose name has not been released, claims Election Director Lillian McBride advised to change that number to 605.
The board did not take any action Thursday night. Two lawmakers, however, are calling for McBride to be replaced.
The board will meet again on Monday, December 17, 2012 after they have time to review Hamm's report.
