COLUMBIA, S.C. (WOLO) -- More than a thousand people turned out to Saturday's Walk Against Domestic Violence in Columbia.

The 6th Annual Walk was hosted by the City of Columbia at Finlay Park. The city reported more than 1,100 participants, including one survivor who traveled from Connecticut.

Councilwoman Tameka Issac Devine said, “Awareness and education are important tools in the campaign against domestic violence. The annual walk provides a forum for increasing awareness about agencies and resources available to help victims of domestic violence.”
