New Boat Landing Being Built on Grand Strand

By Alicia Barnes

NORTH MYRTLE BEACH, S.C. (AP) _ It will be a little more convenient now for visitors to South Carolina's Grand Strand to launch their boats.

Horry County on Wednesday broke ground for a new boat landing on the Intracoastal Waterway near the Conway Bypass and U.S. 17.

The $1.5 million project will include a two-lane boat ramp and parking for 40 vehicles with boat trailers. The nearest public landings with paved parking are currently nine miles to the north and 13 miles to the south.

The site is located in the heart of the Grand Strand which is the center of the state's $15 billion tourism industry.
