Oconee Coroner Says 2 Die in Fire Near Seneca

SENECA, S.C. (AP) _ The Oconee County coroner says a couple has died in a fire at their home near Seneca.

Firefighters were called to the home around 2:30 a.m. Friday, and Coroner Karl Addis says they found 73-year-old Edgar Smith and his 73-year-old wife, Patsy, inside.

Addis says the husband was dead in the bedroom, and his wife had collapsed just outside in the hallway. Autopsies determined they both died from smoke inhalation.

The cause of the fire has not been determined.
