Pilot OK after Plane Crashes in Trees in Lancaster

By News Department

LANCASTER, S.C. (AP) - Emergency crews in Lancaster County have rescued a pilot after his mall plane got stuck in some trees.

Authorities say someone called 911 around 2:30 p.m. Thursday to report a plane stuck in the tops of some trees about 25 feet above the ground.

Rescuers were able to get the pilot out of the plane using a crane and ladders. Authorities say he is expected to be OK.

The plane was registered out of Monroe, N.C., and investigators are trying to figure out where it took off from, where it was going and why it ended up in the trees.
