COLUMBIA, S.C. (WOLO) -- Senate members Wednesday concurred with many veto overrides handed down by the House Tuesday. State senators' decisions to restore the state's arts commission, grant a pay raise to teachers and restore thousands of dollars for rape prevention education end weeks of speculation about the future of those organizations.

Governor Nikki Haley, however, stands by her vetoes. Addressing members of the press, while the Senate debated her vetoes, Haley said it is not her job to 'win a popularity contest' but to 'strengthen the fiscal health' of the state.

Senate members were prepared to wrap up their vetoes Wednesday night.
