Sistercare honors "Women of the Year"
CAYCE, S.C. (WOLO) - Two ladies have kicked domestic violence to the curb, and Tuesday, Sistercare will highlight their personal growth. Jennifer Gist and Elizabeth Gray are honorees at the "Women of the Year" celebration in Cayce. Gist was selected as one of the "Women of the Year" because of the exceptional progress she has made when she resided at Sistercare’s shelter and by receiving counseling services. Officials say her tenacity, resilience, and strength have lead to a renewed life, free of domestic violence. Gray was selected as one of the "Women of the Year" due to her determination, perseverance and desire to empower others that have dealt with domestic violence. She received counseling services at Sistercare, which officials say hav helped her to overcome the abuse she endured and to provide an environment free of domestic violence for her children. Sistercare is a non-profit that served nearly 7,200 battered women and their children last year in Richland, Lexington, Fairfield, Kershaw and Newberry Counties.
