South Carolina Crime Numbers Down

By Rochelle Dean

Sled has been collecting data for the last few decades trying to figure out what they are doing that works and what they are doing that needs improvement.

Sled Spokesperson Thom Berry tells us Overall, most violent crimes have seen a drop, with the exception of murder that jumped 21.1 percent from 2010 to 2011.

Berry Admits the numbers are hard to read since they are comparing 2011 to 2010, where crime numbers were the lowest they've been since 1975.

These new numbers were released Monday afternoon concerning the more than 10 thousand residents throughout the state, from each law enforcement agency.

Berry says he thinks the numbers show a lot of progress that is being made, but also shows there are places where more work still needs to be done.
