South Congaree Police Officer Laid to Rest

By Rochelle Dean

It's been a week since the brown eyed, pointed eared German Shephard died from cancer, but the loss was still very fresh in the minds of residents and police who say Enzo served the community fearlessly.

During the nearly hour long ceremony, members of the department talked about their experiences with Enzo, the first dog vested in the K9 program thanks to a donation from 10 year old Madeline Burrows.

South Congaree police Chief R. Jason Amonio says they would like to continue the k-9 program in Enzo's memory. Next week the police department plans to place a memorial in the town hall so the canine's service will never be forgotten.
