COLUMBIA, S.C. (WOLO) – Students of Southeast Middle School will be growing some vegetables for the fall harvest, thanks to volunteers from the University of South Carolina.

About 30 to 40 people will be volunteering Saturday to move and provide dirt, which will lay the groundwork for the community garden.

The school says the goal for the project is to promote healthy eating. It is a joint project of Southeast Middle School, Sustainable midlands, and Whole Foods.

The groundwork will begin at 7:30 a.m. Saturday.
