Students Send Military Holiday Cheer

COLUMBIA, SC (WOLO)--Students at Carver Elementary school have been working on more than 6 thousand heart felt messages they plan to send to some of our country's bravest men and women for the holidays.

While these students can't spend lots of money on a gift to send, many of them are giving the one thing many of the military members need the most, their love and support.

Students created thousands of hand written letters of encouragement for the Holiday Mail for Heroes Campaign to let our troops here at home and abroad know they have not been forgotten this holiday season.

One of the organizers with The American Red Cross, Regional Chief Executive Officer, Scott Selemee says it's an experience that everyone involved in gets something out of.

"To have this program just provide just a small token of our appreciation and a simple holiday wish is an incredible feeling. Not just for us and the students, but for the men and women who will get the cards."
