COLUMBIA, S.C. (WOLO) -- As students prepare to return to the classroom, the State of South Carolina once again is providing a tax-free weekend for specific items. The holiday begins at 12:01 a.m. Friday and will last through midnight Sunday. Shoppers will save on the State's six percent sales tax. Shoppers may also save on applicable taxes in counties. Pens, pencils, backpacks and computes are on the list. Cell phones are not. But some unique items find their way on the list, including, fishing boots, wedding gowns and tuxedos.
