Local Teacher Charged with Second Count of Sexual Battery
FOREST ACRES, S.C. (WOLO) Just three days after being arrested and charged with Sexual Battery with a Student 34 year old Kinsley Wentzky was arrested again Monday for the same charge allegedly involving a different student.
Wentzky has been an English teacher at Dreher High School for nearly seven years.
"She had been a teacher of this individual," says Lt. Bryant Hinson of the Forest Acres Police Department.
But whether 34 year old Wentzky was still teaching the student in her latest arrest, by Forest Acres Police, is not known.
In an arrest warrant obtained by ABC Columbia News, both Wentzky and the student admitted to having sexual intercourse at her home on December 20, 2012.
"It would not be illegal if she was not a teacher or someone in authority, an authority figure, over him," says Lt. Hinson.
In a separate arrest warrant, this time from Columbia Police, it states Wentzky and another student admitted to sexual intercourse at a home on Wilmot St. in Columbia back in May of 2011.
In both cases, Wentzky was charged with Sexual Battery with a Student 16 or 17 years old with no aggravated force or coercion.
Authorities say in both cases, the students consented.
"In 2010, a law was introduced and passed outlawing this based off the fact that a teacher, a school resource officer or anyone of authority in a school, basically could use their ability as a teacher or their influence to possibly influence a child who is of school age to do things which would be inappropriate," says Lt. Hinson.
The charge carries a sentence of up to 5 years in prison.
Both incidents are under investigation.
