Homicides 'Brutal, Cold Blooded' Says Sheriff
Surviving shooting victim leads authorities to suspects
COLUMBIA, S.C. (WOLO) -- Two men are arrested and charged with killing, execution style, two men and attempting to kill a woman; however, the woman, shot in the head, survives and leads authorities to the suspects.
Richland County Sheriff Leon Lott said Tuesday that 36-year-old DeAndre Diggs is facing charges including murder, attempted murder, kidnapping and armed robbery. Lott says Diggs and 27-year-old William Wallace tortured and shot two men in a Columbia apartment last month. He says drugs and money were the motives. The pair also injured a 24-year-old woman, who was able to escape and flag down a motorist for help, according to authorities. The motorist, a 16-year-old, being called a 'Good Samaritan,' tended to the bloodied woman and consoled her until authorities were contacted.
Richland County Coroner Gary Watts identified the male shooting victims as 24-year-old Athell Johnson and 23-year-old Jamall Pratt. Sheriff Lott says they were tied up and tortured before being shot in the head.
Diggs and Wallace were being held in the Richland County jail, and it wasn't known if they had attorneys. Authorities have said they will consider pushing for the death penalty.
