COLUMBIA, S.C. (WOLO) - The University of South Carolina is dealing with its second report of an armed suspect on campus in a matter of days.

Early Sunday morning, police sent out an alert, saying a white male in a white shirt and shorts was spotted near Russell House running toward Thomas Cooper Library, carrying a pistol.

Students and staff were asked to stay inside,

Officers searched the area, but they said they were unable to find a person, matching that description.

Last week, we showed you surveillance photos. Campus police are still looking for a man after they say he confronted someone with a gun on the Horseshoe on the morning that fall semester started.

The suspect demanded money, and because the victim didn't have any on him, officers say the suspect forced the victim to walk to his dorm to get money. Then the suspect left.

If you recognize him, you're asked to call police.

The University wants to remind students of some resources.

They can use evening and late-night shuttle services to get around campus, and you can request a police escort by calling 803-777-4215.
