COLUMBIA, S.C. (WOLO) -- Thursday night nearly 1,000 USC students, faculty and staff are expected to gather at the fields on Greene Street, next to the Colonial Life Arena, to run for Boston.

The run, hosted by the Beta Theat Pi USC chapter, will honor the victims in this week's bombing at the Boston Marathon.

ABC Columbia sat down with two of the event's organizers today. Luke Flanagan, a USC Sophomer and, Beta Theta Pi member says, for him, the run is a way to help his loved ones back home from so many miles away.

"This run means everything for me tonight. This, it's home. It's, our home was attacked," says Flanagan.

"We want to honor patriots day in Boston and let the people there know that we are all Americans and we're all here to support them and then we specifically want to let the Richard family know that even though, we understand that we can never make them whole again, we can never completely rectify the situation for them, we're here and we love them and we support them," says Alex Bermudez, event organizer and Beta Theta Pi member.

The event will continue until 7:30 Wednesday night. Anyone is invited to attend and walk, run or show support.

T-shirts will also be on sale at the event, 100% of the proceeds will go to benefit The Richard Family Fund.

The Richard family is the family of the youngest victim in the bombing, 8 year old Martin Richard. Richard was there to watch his father, who was reportedly participating in the Boston Marathon. His mother and younger sister were also reportedly injured in the blast.

The Richard Family Fund has been set up by Meetinghouse Bank in Dorchester, Massachusetts, the hometown of the Richard family.
