Woman Shot to Death in Kershaw County

By News Department

ELGIN, S.C. (AP) - Kershaw County sheriff's deputies say an Elgin woman has died after she was shot in the chest following an argument.

Coroner Johnny Fellers says 29-year-old Petra Boykin was shot around 3 a.m. Tuesday and died several hours later after she was flown to a Columbia hospital.

Sheriff Jim Matthews says Boykin was in a relationship with the son of the woman who deputies think shot the victim.

No charges have been filed while the investigation continues.

Matthews says Boykin was shot when she dropped by a home to pick up some of her belongings.

The sheriff says the women had a history of arguing.
