CHARLESTON, S.C. (AP) — It was a family affair for dozens of graduates of The Citadel this weekend.

The college allows parents or grandparents who have graduated from The Citadel to present diplomas to their children or grandchildren.

So during Saturday's graduation ceremonies, 64 of the graduates received diplomas from a relative. It's the largest number of so-called legacies ever graduated in year at the state military college in Charleston.

More than 400 cadets, veteran students and active duty military personnel graduated from The Citadel on Saturday. In a later ceremony, 342 evening undergraduates and graduate college students received their diplomas.
