Consumer Affairs Warns of Cyber Scam
Columbia, SC (WOLO)-- The Consumer Affairs Department has issued a warning about an internet scam.
This latest so called phishing scam is taking advantage of South Carolina's cyber hacking. Consumer experts say the scammers are sending emails posing as credit agencies like Equifax. The e-mails have words like “Identity Theft ” in the subject line. Once opened, the consumer is urged to check their credit score through an embedded link. Do not click on the link say consumer officials. Verify the message by contacting agencies directly and always use anti virus software to protect your information. |
