Missing Lexington County Man Found Murdered

By News Department

LEXINGTON COUNTY, S.C. (WOLO) - A missing Lexington County man turns up dead, and investigators are calling it a homicide.

26-year-old Worth Edward Cook III is charged with his murder and 40-year-old Richard Earl Barnes faces a count of accessory after the fact to murder.

Lexington County deputies say they conducted a search warrant at Cooks' Leesville home on Lee Gunter Road Friday and excavated a burial site outside.

54-year-old David Jonathan Diblasi was the victim of a fatal stabbing. According to the coroner, he suffered an injury in his left eye along with a fractured skull.

Diblasi was first reported missing by his mother on March 9th. She told deputies she last saw her son at her home at the end of February.

Arrest warrants also allege that surveillance camera video shows Barnes and Cook traveled to a Walmart Supercenter on South Lake Drive March 5th. That's where Cook apparently used Diblasi's TD Bank credit card to buy some supplies, including diapers.

Additional charges are pending.
