Chase Ends with Alleged Kidnapping Suspect in Custody

NEWBERRY COUNTY, S.C. (WOLO) - The suspect believed to be involved in the alleged kidnapping of a woman is now in custody after a chase through two counties.

The black Chevrolet Impala was eventually pulled over near downtown Saluda.

Officers have also detained a second person in the case to determine the circumstances.

Initially, Newberry County 911 received a call that reported a woman was kidnapped and in the trunk of the car off US 176 near Peak. Authorities then spotted the suspected vehicle on SC 219 and tried to stop it, but the car took off.

The chase eventually crossed county lines into Saluda.

The vehicle in question is registered in Greenville County.

An investigation into the alleged incident is underway.
