Earthquake Rattles Summerville

SUMMERVILLE, S.C. (WOLO) -- A small earthquake has shaken houses and rattled some residents in the Summerville area.

The U.S. Geological Survey initially reported the tremor at 2.4 on the Richter scale, then upgraded it to 2.5.

By Wednesday night it was being reported as 3.0.

According to an earthquake expert at the College of Charleston, a 3.0 magnitude quake is noticeable, but not strong enough to cause significant damage.
