Midlands Twins Red Carpet Bound
Getting ready for the pomp and circumstance
COLUMBIA, S.C. (WOLO) -- Some of the most famous names in television including ABC'S own Robin Roberts, are getting ready for the Academy Awards.
Two of the Midlands' own are also Oscar bound.
They share exactly what it takes to prepare for all the pomp and circumstance.
An experience most of us will never have is reality for Midlands twins Rhonda and Sharee Washington. They will be up close and personal with the best in Hollywood film.
"We will attend several pre-Oscar events," said Sharee Washington.
"I'm elated," said Rhonda Washington.
And rightfully so.
It's all because of an Oscars show producer who met the twins during a layover in Charlotte. The television executive--who had never seen or met them before-- liked the twins' "Take a Leap web show" and offered them the chance to blog about Oscar right from the red carpet.
"Many of [the celebrities] will come through our way. We will get the opportunity and take advantage of it."
An army of Midlands supporters helped them get ready for the big event. Their gowns, jewelry, mani's and pedi's, even their frequent flier miles, were all donated.
"The most we spent money on was our shoes."
Stepping out in style, they say they are ready to take over Hollywood and put South Carolina on the map.
"We're also planning on speaking with directors and producers about bringing films back here to South Carolina."
