Columbia, S.C. (WOLO) -- Susan Bires, mother of hit and run victim, Lindsay Bires, unveils a new YouTube video in what she calls a last ditch effort to help solve the September 2012 crime against her daughter.

Susan reached out to ABC Columbia News in July and made a plea for answers in the hit and run that occurred September 16, 2012, around 2:30am near Palmetto Health Richland where daughter Lindsay was a cardiac nurse. While on a smoke break, someone ran over Lindsay and kept going. Today, Susan told ABC Columbia News by phone is upping the anti.

"If people survive a tragic event, people don't realize surviving doesn't mean your life is back," said Bires. "We wanna get the story out about how bad things are and whoever did this to her should be held accountable. It's not like she's healed and back to work.

Susan hopes a new YouTube video released this week, and an increased reward to $25,000, will help convince the public and Lindsay's assailant to come forward.

"The more visible the video gets the more chance we have at getting something to happen on this."

Then 24-year-old Lindsay was hit by what police believe to be a compact, white car. The driver, who has not been identified, kept going. According to Susan, Lindsay suffered brain trauma and endures countless surgeries, therapy and psychotic episodes from various prescribed medications.

"Everything's been taken from her."

Columbia police have had little to go on. Authorities say there are no new developments today. Susan hopes the new video changes that.

Susan Bires is expected to arrive in Columbia from Boston next week to meet with investigators personally. She says she will not stop until someone is held accountable for what happened to her daughter.
