Oconee Co., S.C. (WOLO)-- Authorities are searching for an escaped Columbia mental health patient accused of murdering his mother and step-father in 2006.

The Oconee County Sheriff's Office has identified the escapee as Jason Mark Carter.

The South Carolina Department of Mental Health did not identify him, but they did tell ABC Columbia, a patient-- who was in the patient work program --escaped from a Northeast Columbia campus Thursday morning.

Investigators say Carter may be traveling in a stolen 1991 white Chevy van with the tag SG61580 and the number 244 on the bumper.

If you know where carter is call the Oconee County Sheriff's Department or Crimestoppers.
