Supporters of US Rep Clyburn to hold fundraiser

COLUMBIA, S.C. (AP) — Supporters of U.S. Rep. Jim Clyburn are holding a fundraiser for him in Columbia.

The group called Friends of Jim Clyburn plans a reception starting at 5:30 p.m. Tuesday at the South Carolina Minority Business Enterprise Center.

Clyburn is in his 11th term as a Democratic congressman from South Carolina. His 6th District is a predominantly black district in the southern part of the state stretching from Columbia to Charleston. He last faced major party opposition in 2010, winning with 63 percent of the vote.

Clyburn reported $1.3 million in his campaign account at the end of March.
