(WOLO) COLUMBIA,S.C., --

Just this weekend alone Forestry officials responded more than a dozen brush and forest fires, many that were sparked by winds upwards of 30 miler per hour, which blew embers into wooded areas.

Officials placed an open burn ban in effect early Saturday morning because of that wind and low humidity.

Although Sunday wasn't as active, officials say the ban remains in effect until we get more rain the area.
