Sumter, SC (WOLO)-Sumter police say no charges will be filed against a man who shot and killed a dog in memorial park.
Police say the man had a concealed weapons permit... and shot the dog one time, then immediately reported the shooting to authorities.
Officers say the dog wasn't on a leash and the man felt threatened when it charged at him growling.
A homeless couple who own the dog told newspapers the dog was not growling or charging.
They added their two dogs helped them deal with the stress of losing a job and being evicted from their home.
