Columbia, S.C. (WOLO) -- More than 1000 people are without power as officials say an airplane clipped a power line.

Officials with the Columbia/Richland Fire Department say an airplane clipped a power line on Commerce Drive near Owens Field Airport, which is located near Williams-Brice stadium in Columbia.

It happened just before 6:00pm. Commerce Drive and Adeline Street are blocked off.

South Carolina Electric & Gas says the incident caused more than 1000 people to lose power. However, we're told the plane did land safely.

We have a crew at the scene and will bring you more tonight at 11.
