SC Officials Warn about Suspicious Phone Calls
COLUMBIA, S.C. (WOLO) - Scam alert, the South Carolina Department of Consumer Affairs wants to warn you about some suspicious calls that are preying on the elderly and disabled.
Officials say an automatic message is promising a free medical alert system.
You're instructed to press one to speak to a representative...for verification purposes.
Once that button is pressed, you're asked to provide payment information.
Officials say don't give that information over the phone and hang up.
