BLAIR, S.C. (AP) — Federal officials are scheduled to hold two meetings to discuss nuclear projects in South Carolina.

The Nuclear Regulatory Commission is scheduled to meet on Tuesday in Blair to talk about inspection and oversight for two new nuclear reactors at the V.C. Summer Nuclear Station near Jenkinsville. South Carolina Electric & Gas Co. is building the new reactors next to an existing unit, which began operating in the 1980s.

NRC officials are also set to be in Atlanta on Tuesday to talk about ongoing programs at a Westinghouse facility near Columbia where fuel assemblies for commercial power reactors are made. Officials are planning to talk about a review of how the plant would respond to an earthquake.
