Clemson Gowns

By Eric Weisfeld

(WOLO) Columbia, SC-Some new graduates of Clemson University are going green while getting their degrees.
The school says some of the students who graduated Friday wore caps and gowns that are made from recycled plastic bottles. Officials say the gear looks almost identical to traditional caps and gowns and can be placed in recycling bins after the ceremony.
The recycled versions cost $3 more than traditional caps and gowns. Clemson says the extra fee goes toward a sustainability fund to promote other environmentally friendly projects. Manufacturer Oak Hall Cap and Gown has also agreed to donate an additional 25 cents to the fund for each cap and gown sold.
