Lexington Co., SC (WOLO)--Deputies in Lexington County are searching for a Gaston man they say cut his wife with a box cutter more than 20 times.

According to investigators, Thursday James Shawver cut his wife with a box cutter during a verbal altercation at the couple's Gaston home.

Deputies say he then dragged her by her hair into the woods saying he intended to kill her.

She was able to escape only to be caught by her husband when deputies say he then stabbed her in the neck.

Investigators say Shawver then forced her into his car but she jumped out as the car was leaving the home.

The victim was then taken to the hospital where she is listed in serious condition.

If you know where Shawver is call the Lexington Co. Sheriff's Department or Crimestoppers at 1-888-CRIME-SC.
