Bond Denied for Man Charged in DOT Worker's Death
LEXINGTON, S.C. (WOLO) -- Thomas Stafford, the man the South Carolina Highway Patrol says hit and killed a SCDOT worker, was denied bond Tuesday.
Stafford is charged with Felony DUI and Leaving the Scene of an Accident Involving Death.
According to troopers, 39 year old Stafford was driving the car that struck and killed 21 year old Nicholas Johnson Monday afternoon on I-20.
Both charges carry 25 year sentences.
Troopers say this is Stafford's 3rd DUI charge, others include a 2008 charge and one last month on November 19th.
Until Monday, he was out on bond for the second DUI charge, say troopers.
