Man Gets 15 Years for Fatal 2009 Gaffney Shooting

By Alicia Barnes

GAFFNEY, S.C. (AP) _ South Carolina prosecutors say a 53-year-old Gaffney man has been sentenced to 15 years in prison for the shooting death of another man during a crack cocaine deal.

Authorities said Hayword Chambers had never met the victim before they ran into each other at the crack dealer's home in Gaffney in November 2009.

Investigators said Chambers shot and killed 41-year-old Calvin Morgan after arguing with him and his girlfriend.

A Cherokee County jury found Chambers guilty of voluntary manslaughter.
