CHARLESTON, S.C. (AP) — Maryland Gov. Martin O'Malley is coming to South Carolina to speak at a gathering of the state's Democrats.

O'Malley is slated to be the keynote speaker at the Issues Conference that's taking place Saturday in Charleston.

Party officials say the annual gathering features panel and breakout discussions on a variety of topics affecting the people, families and businesses of South Carolina.

State Sen. Vincent Sheheen says O'Malley is a good pick to speak at this year's meeting because of the positive strides made in his state under his leadership.
