Midlands Woman Treated after Raccoon Bite

LEE COUNTY, S.C. (WOLO) - A Midlands woman is exposed to rabies after being bitten by a raccoon.

The South Carolina Department of Health and Environmental Control says the animal tested positive for the disease in Lee County.

The victim is now undergoing preventive treatment.

So far, there have been more than 100 confirmed cases in animals statewide this year.
