COLUMBIA, S.C. (WOLO) -- A Columbia toddler's battle with a rare eye disease has led to mounting medical expenses for his parents. Friends noticed their struggle and decided to help via a benefit concert, and they want you to participate.

Bill and Theresa Dune have watched their 11-month-old son, Connor, suffer through multiple eye surgeries. He has Congenital Glaucoma. Only 0.05% of children get the rare illness. He has already lost some vision; the ongoing surgeries are to preserve what's left of his sight. There is no cure.

"He could go blind," said Theresa.

Mounting medical expenses have caused the family to refinance their home, among other financial struggles. Friends of the Dunes noticed their struggle and put together a benefit concert so people can donate to help cover Connor's medical bills.

The Connor Dune Benefit will take place Saturday, January 12, 2013, from 4:00pm until close, at Polliwogs Bar and Grill, located at 10005 Two Notch Road. There will be free food, music, raffles and prizes. Bands, Interstate Exiles, Alter Ego and Weekend Bender are scheduled to perform. For more information, you can call 803-736-5775.
