South Carolina officials plan to assess the state's water. Officials with the Department of Health and Environmental Control and the Department of Natural Resources say they will send a request for contractors to bid on doing a statewide water assessment.

The directors of both agencies say the information is necessary so that South Carolina can make better decisions on how to handle its resources.
