BENNETTSVILLE, S.C. (AP) _ The father of an 8-year-old boy shot and killed while he visited a home in Bennettsville is facing charges in connection with his son's death.

State Law Enforcement Division agents arrested 30-year-old Justin Brueger on Wednesday and charged him with unlawful conduct toward a child.

Investigators say Brueger was cleaning a rifle Sunday night when it fired, hitting his son Easton in the stomach. The boy died a short time later in the hospital.

WPDE-TV reports (http://bit.ly/UGL33n ) that Brueger apologized to his son at a bond hearing. He was allowed out of jail, but ordered to remove all guns from his home.

Brueger faces up to 10 years in prison if convicted.
