Police: Toddler Struck in Gunfire Exchange

By News Department

COLUMBIA, S.C. (WOLO) - A four-year-old girl is in critical but stable condition at a local hospital following a shooting at the Colony Apartments in Columbia.

Officers say at least two cars were trading gunfire around 8pm Monday when the girl was hit. She was inside watching TV.

According to initial reports, the incident may have started on foot. Then the two cars continued the back-and-forth exchange up Bailey Street.

Spokesperson Jennifer Timmons adds the girl was not an intended target in this case.

The department is asking if you recognize the silver Dodge Charger in this picture that is believed to be connected to the shooting.

If you do recognize it, you're asked to call Crimestoppers at 1-888-CRIME-SC.
