Kershaw County Sheriff Jim Matthews is speaking out about the suspect behind bars accused in the murder of an 18 year old teenage a girl.

Saturday Matthews said 21 year old Stephen Ross Kelly is facing Murder, Kidnapping and Criminal Sexual Conduct charges for the strangling death of Briana Rabon.

Matthews says this is one case that left an entire community on edge, some families even afraid to allow their children to go outside an play.

Matthews says Kelly is scheduled to appear in court for a bond hearing sometime next week. A court appearance Matthews says he plans to attend and encourages members of the community to as well.

Matthews hope is that a packed court room will send the judge a message to deny bond in the case.
