Nursing Home Death
EASLEY, S.C. (AP) _ State health officials are criticizing an Easley nursing home where a woman died in last summer's heat.
The Department of Health and Environmental Control says the care at Majesty Health and Rehab last year was ``substandard.''
Eighty-four-year-old Eloise Arnold was found unresponsive after the air conditioning at the center had stopped working last June.
Police said they went to the nursing home to check on residents after family members complained about the heat. Officers said it was 91 degrees in the wing where the air conditioning was not working. Investigators say that is 10 degrees above what state regulations allow.
DHEC says the nursing home should have done more to protect residents.
Majesty Health and Rehab would not talk about the report.
