Asteroid Passing Close to Earth
COLUMBIA, S.C. (WOLO) --NASA is keeping a watchful eye on a
asteroid passing close to Earth. The asteroid is considered small at around 150 feet across and it's scientific name is 2012DA14. It will pass within 17 thousand miles of earth. To give you an idea, that's inside the ring of weather and communication satellites orbiting the planet. For many, that sounds to close for comfort but the path is still well above the vast majority of satellites and the International Space Station say experts. NASA says there is no chance of a collision. |

It should be it's closest on the 15th (Feb). You can check it out on NASA JPL Orbit Diagram along with other NEOs.

Shouldn't it say "an asteroid"?

Nice graphic with the "nothing to worry about" news story. Same one used for the stories about the one that killed the dinosaurs...idiots.
