Business Leaders Ignite a City Celebration

Wednesday night hundreds attended EngenuitySC's annual "Ignite" celebration showcasing the Midlands' knowledge economy and getting a glimpse of new innovators just breaking out onto the scene.

EngenuitySC Executive Director, George Hutton says the event is a way to celebrate some of the successes achieved in the midlands evident by a lot of the growth int he Capitol City that some people are not even aware of.

Mayor Steve Benjamin, says the event has also been a way for Midlands business elite and young entrepreneurs stay engaged so Columbia can continue to compete not only with regions like Atlanta and Charlotte, but Dubai and Thaiwan.

During the event, 4 budding innovators were able to pitch their ideas to the live crowd for a chance to win 5 thousand dollars. "Public Works of Heart" walked away the lucky winner. Keep your eyes peeled, you may soon start seeing some of their giant murals around the city benefiting different charities.
