Healthcare Deadline Looming
(WOLO) COLUMBIA,S.C., --
There is less than a week left before the deadline to sign up for the Affordable Health Care Act. Which means questions and business for area insurance companies are booming.
Blue Cross, Blue Shield Spokesman, Adam Myrick says they have seen such a huge spike in the amount of people coming into their newest Harbison location, they've decided to extend their hours from 7 to 9 at night.
While a majority of the people they are seeing coming in with questions and leaving with coverage are young people, but they are not the only ones having conversations about what type of policy is best for them.
Myrick says each individual is looked at on a case by case basis and once they are in the store, they walk them through the process so they have information to make the best informed decision for their family.
Myrick says it's important for people to know, if you are currently uninsured and are making more than 11 thousand 5 hundred dollars a year, you will face a fine if you do not sign up for health insurance prior to the March 31st deadline.
That penalty, 1 percent of your earnings or 95 dollars whichever is greater.
If you still have questions you can always go to Healthcare.gov or SouthCarolinaBlues.com for more information.
