PTSD: The Silent Struggle

While it's a disorder that may appear to affect Military personnel and law enforcement more than others, but one area psychiatrists says that's not the case.
More than 7 Million people are diagnosed with the disorder that often disrupt a persons day to day activities after experiencing a traumatic event.
Dr. Naresh Emmanuel says he is seeing more patients battling with the disorder that can manifest in nightmares and flashbacks. If not treated Emmanuel says the disorder can lead to even more problems like substance abuse or even depression.
Monday during a emotional news conference, Chief Randy Scott announced this was the same disorder he's been battling and is now seeking treatment for.
Dr. Emmanuel says there are various types of treatment, the first step is realizing you need help fighting the disorder.
