Voting Rights Decision

By Rochelle Dean

It's a move some say will even out the playing field the next time you head out to the polls to cast your ballot, while others say it's a game they're not willing to play around with.

The voting Rights Act was enacted back in 1965 during the height of the Civil Rights Movement to stop discriminatory voting practices. Tuesday night, the key component of that law was deemed unconstitutional by a 5 to 4 vote.

The change means states will no longer have to get federal approval before implementing voting laws. A measure that has people on both sides of the aisle reacting.
