Authorities Look to Surviving Victim for Answers

Orangeburg County, S.C. (WOLO) -- Officials say two orangeburg County shooting victims, one of whom is dead, were biological brothers. Investigators also believe the two were targeted.

Orangeburg County Sheriff's Department spokesperson, Keisa Gunby Petersen, says whomever committed a drive-by shooting outside a night club off Neeses Highway had their eyes on two brothers.

"We don't think this was random," said Petersen. "Our suspect pulled up, shot one three times and shot another as he tried to run away once in the back. He fell into a ditch."

It happened around 2:30 Sundday morning at Club Ambition on nesses Camp Rd. Peterson says friends of the first victim transported his bleeding body to a local hospital and then notified authorities there was a second shooting victim who had collapsed in a nearby ditch. He died at the scene. Petersen says club violence has decreased significantly since Sheriff Leroy Ravenel began shutting them down after taking office in 2011. However, Sunday's incident is a reminder that violence at night clubs and bars hasn't been eradicated as long as there is a hidden agenda.

"We don't have any idea why these two individuals were targeted."

Officials are waiting for the surviving victim, who remains in the hospital, to become coherent enough to tell them what really happened.
