Crash Involving Semi Closes Portion of I-20
KERSHAW COUNTY, S.C. (WOLO) -One of the west bound lanes of Interstate 20 near mile marker 90 is open again following two crashes within fifteen minutes.
Lugoff Fire Chief Dennis Ray says the first crash involving a flatbed semi occurred around 7:30 Thursday night. Fifteen minutes later a tractor trailer almost struck a fire truck at the scene then flipped over coming to a rest in the median. That second tractor trailer caught fire trapping the driver. Firefighters extricated the driver who was transported to Palmetto Health Richland with unknown injuries.
That tractor trailer was carrying milk that spilled into the median. Crews are still cleaning up the first accident as well as the milk spill and say they plan to be at the scene most of the night. The right lane where the initial crash occurred is still closed. Traffic is now moving in the left lane. Authorities are asking you try to avoid the area. A detour is posted at exit 92.
